Cloud Hosting · Private Cloud
Your own private cloud, run by people who do this every day.
Companies that need to control their data can deploy a managed private cloud instead of running a data centre. We take on the nodes, the virtualization layer, and the provisioning and upkeep of virtual servers. CACloud has designed, run and supported private cloud environments for organizations of every size.

Note This is the older Private Cloud page. The current one, with the three sizes and why three nodes is the production minimum, is Canadian Cloud Hosting › Private Cloud.
Single or high availability
One server, or a cluster that covers for a failure.
The question this page has always asked. Both answers are still sold; what sits behind them has moved on.
Single
Today: One node, for development and staging
One dedicated server running Proxmox VE, yours alone. Right for building, testing and staging. It is a server rather than a cluster: there is nothing for it to fail over to.
High availability
Today: Three nodes, the production minimum
Three dedicated servers, clustered, with Ceph storage written across all three. A node can fail or come out for patching and your machines keep running. Five nodes when three is not enough.
What we sell today
One node to build on. Three to run on. Five when three is not enough.
Every private cloud is dedicated hardware running Proxmox VE, with Ceph storage written across the nodes. Three nodes is the production minimum because a cluster decides by majority: with two nodes and one failure there is no majority left, and two nodes cannot hold the three copies Ceph keeps of your data.
There is no list price, because every cluster is sized before it is sold. Tell us the machine count, the memory and the storage you need and our engineers write it up, with a monthly price in Canadian dollars.
Enterprise ready
What a managed private cloud includes.
- Full support of the operating system running on each VM
- Provisioning for your new VMs
- 24/7 enterprise support
- Help with design and deployment
- Ceph storage written across the nodes
- Network and server management
Management is optional: what runs inside your machines is yours by default, and Managed Support adds the rest.

1-866-821-8355Why a private cloud
Eight reasons, from the original page.
24/7 support, 365 days a year
Our support team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from our own staff.
Cross platform
Keep the IT investment you have. Add cloud agility and process automation without rebuilding on one vendor's preferred platform.
Enhanced security
A private cloud is single-tenant. The hardware, the network and the hypervisor are yours, which removes the risks that come with sharing them.
Application support
Deploy new or legacy applications and manage them across your private cloud from easy-to-use control panels.
Virtualization expertise
Engineers who run these platforms every day are on hand 24/7 and can manage your virtual machines and physical servers so you can focus on your work.
Complete control
Partition your nodes into as many virtual machines as you need, each with its own operating system and applications.
Managed support
Once you are live, our engineers can keep the servers at optimal performance and take OS management, security patching and hot fixes off your plate.
Easy expansion
Add nodes or resources for seasonal traffic, growth or the virtualization of more of your existing servers.
