Canadian Cloud Hosting

Build your cloud the way you want it.

Every business has its own IT requirements. CACloud runs three cloud server lines and two shared hosting lines on one platform, in Toronto and Vancouver, so you can pick the level of isolation and management you need and change it later.

Choose a line

Three ways to run a server. Pick by how much you want to own.

All three give you root or Administrator access. They differ in who else shares the hardware and how much we manage for you.

The platform

One platform behind every line.

The CACloud platform is a multi-tenant cloud on one virtualization stack. The same hardware design and network run each line, so a server behaves the same way in Toronto and in Vancouver.

  • DDoS protection on every line

Cloudflare Magic Transit network DDoS protection is included with every plan on every line, at no extra charge. Attacks are absorbed at the edge before they reach our network.

  • Four deployment models

The same virtualization layer runs public clouds, private clouds, hybrid clouds (dedicated servers with cloud failover) and node-based VPS clouds.

  • Automatic failover

On Enterprise VM and production Private Cloud clusters, a failed host's machines restart on another host automatically. No ticket needed.

  • Resize in under a minute

Log in to the customer portal, change CPU, memory or disk, and reboot. The new resources are live in less than one minute.

  • Always another server

Load balancing and continual hardware additions mean there is always a spare host ready to pick up the slack.

  • Isolated by design

Resources are fully isolated between virtual machines on the same host. The security architecture page lists each layer.

  • Storage that does not depend on one disk

Data is written to several disks on several servers, so losing a drive or a storage server loses no data.

The long version, with the deployment models table and the storage and network detail, is on the Cloud Architecture page.

Included in every plan

What you get whichever line you pick.

  • 24/7 support from our own team, at no extra cost
  • Root or Administrator access to every server
  • Servers in Toronto or Vancouver, billed in Canadian dollars
  • Upgrade or downgrade resources in real time from the control panel
  • Windows or Linux templates
  • A written service level agreement with credits when we miss it

Every service is self-managed by default. The support policy says what that covers. Want us to run the operating system too? Add Managed Support.

Canadian by design

A Canadian company, not just a Canadian address.

Canadian Web Hosting, the company that operates CACloud, is Canadian-owned and has run hosting since 1998, with data centres in Toronto and Vancouver. Choose shared hosting or a standard VPS for everyday workloads. Ask about Enterprise VM when your project needs a separate compliance review.

What Canadian residency means in practice, and which laws apply, is on the compliance page.

Questions

Cloud hosting, briefly.

What is Cloud Hosting?

There are many definitions of the “Cloud”. In our case it means highly available, scalable, virtualized servers that you reach over the internet. You control each virtual server through a user-friendly control panel.

What is the difference between Self-Managed and Managed?

All CACloud services are self-managed. You control them directly through the user control panel. If you run a more complex setup, or want some help, you can add Managed Support to your account for a monthly fee; the current price is on the Managed Support page. We then update your server, patch your applications and harden the server when needed. You also get 24/7/365 access to our support team.

Can I run Windows or Linux on my Cloud Server?

Yes. You can pick from preconfigured Windows and Linux templates, including Red Hat, Debian, Fedora and Ubuntu, right from the control panel. You can also one-click install leading applications such as WordPress, Drupal and Joomla.

Can I upgrade an existing Cloud Server?

Yes, it is easy. Log in to your control panel, buy the extra resources, and assign them to your machine. The system shuts the machine down, upgrades it, and brings it back up on its own.

What is a Private Cloud?

Private Clouds are for organizations that want maximum control of their data plus the benefits of the cloud. A CACloud private cloud is dedicated hardware running Proxmox VE, with Ceph storage written across the nodes so your data lives on more than one machine. There are three sizes: one node for development and staging, three nodes as the production minimum, and five when three is not enough. All three are priced and orderable, and you choose the billing term in the cart. One node is a server rather than a cluster, so it carries no availability commitment. Past five nodes, our engineers scope and quote it.
